Question
Hi all -
Hope all is well with everyone. When a player is returned to his junior team whether before a season starts or after his 9 game tryout, does the player still collect money from his contract or is that put on hold untill he makes the team?
Thanks,
Hwilensky

Before - he gets paid for the games he was there, but that's it.
If the player plays more than 9 games it counts as a full year against his contract.
Habs fan and collector! Current PC's: Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, and Lane Hutson...., and of course...

They don't have a salary or anything along those lines, as they're still considered junior/amateur players at that stage. They may get a per diem from the team, but I'm not up to speed on that sort of thing.

RGM is correct.
Let's use Tyler Seguin as an example.
He collected a signing bonus and he keeps the whole thing. He'll earn NHL money while he's up - but let's say (hypothetically) he gets sent down after 9 games.
Now he's back with Plymouth, where he collects no NHL salary.
He would get a per diem from the team. Normally these are worth about $50 per week.
