chase utley on a ball?
Hey guys, need some help with a bit of a family mystery. In 2004 my brother who was 10 at the time went to a Red Barons (Phillies AAA team) game in our hometown. He got a bunch of the players autographs before that game, but was angry that he didn't get Ryan Howard. Since that was the only player he had heard of on that team, he put the ball away until now. Over the weekend he showed it to me so I decided to investigate to see if I can identify the autos.
From what I can tell, this ball 90% has chase utley's auto on it. The scan below is a (sorry its blurry) scan of the ball compared to a certified utley auto that I have. You can see that the first 2 letters are formed identically. My concern is that the "Ts" are formed differently, but that could just be attributed to the fact that they were years apart on the auto or that he was having a hard time signing the ball.
I looked at the 2004 red barons season roster and only 2 players on the team had names that started with a C (including the coaches). These were Chase Utley and Clay Condrey. I looked up Clay Condrey's auto and it looks nothing like this.
So pretty much do y'all think this is chase's autograph?
