You guys are killing me - I'm laughing so darn hard! However, if he really does live across from you, you should have already spotted him. The sport of baseball is based on pretty consistent schedules for games, practices, meeting, etc.

This is what I would do. If you meet him "by chance", just greet him, introduce yourself, tell him where you live and let him know what a great fan you are of his and the Phillies (and that you're pulling for them to win the WS again!). If you have a blank piece of paper or carry your own business card, ask if he would sign it for you. If you don't, ask him if he would mind signing something for you the next time you see him. If he signs something for you right there, consider yourself lucky and leave him alone - unless he invites you over for drinks!!!!!

I'd ask a friend who has a daughter in the girl scouts to borrow her.
Go up to his door and say the following:
Hello sir, would you like to purcha-. " Holy (insert explicitive) Your Chase Utley!"-Not recommended since you have a child there

But anyways yea just introduce yourself and where you live and ask if another day when you guys meet if he could sign one or two things for you.

His wife is hot, and they are big into the SPCA and helping animals. You should set it up where he witnesses you saving a cat from a tree, nursing a bird with a broken wing back to health, or hosting a Mike Vick jersey burning ceremony. Then he would have to approach YOU. Put the ball in Utley's court.

Don't ask to trade by book value. No one has traded by book value since ebay has existed.
