    GIMP help!

    Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone could help me on the GIMP programming side? I'm very new to GIMP and have no experience with PhotoShop either so I apologise if this is very easy stuff!

How do you 'extract' (I think that's the term used in PhotoShop - not sure if that's what it is called in GIMP too?!) something away from an image? E.g If I had a picture of a player and would like to keep him and use that on a different background of my choice?

    Hope my explaination helps!

    Thanks guys.

You can use the pen tool to trace around an item within an image, then create it a a selection. Simply cut and paste the item you have selected. Or you can invert the selection and hit delete to keep the image you selected with a transparent background.
