MetsMagic's Thread
Just wanted to fill you in on my TTM "career"
Sent first letter without knowing anything about fan mail to Jose Reyes in '07, I never saw it again!
In '08 I sent to Jason Bay. Got nothing!
Next I decided to pick 6 guys to try, also without any knowledge of if they sign. This is what happened,
I sent a few letters out over the summer to these players:
Josh Thole: Received 1/1 Personalized and in black sharpie on his 2010 Topps rookie card.
R.A. Dickey: Received 1/1 on Index card in blue pen. (Not a fake!!! I can tell.)
Dustin Pedroia: Received 0/1 Letter stating that he apologizes but can't sign due to his high volume of mail. Got Pre-print photo.
Evan Longoria: Haven't gotten anything
Johnny Damon: Haven't gotten anything
Jesus Montero: Haven't gotten anything
Recently, I got HOOKED. I started a spring training list and am halfway done with my handwritten letters. I've been researching like crazy, checking multiple sources to make sure I picked a player who responds most of the time. Here is my list, any suggestions or helpful hints to a rookie would help.
If there's a # it means 2010 Topps card
-Aaron Hill: #
-Jon Garland: #
-J.P. Arencibia: Sending 2010 Topps Updates & Highlights
-Carlos Carrasco: #
-Kyle Drabek: Not sure what I'm sending, I don't have a card
-Dustin Ackley: Same thing, maybe index card?
-Yonder Alonso: Ditto
-Tyler Colvin: #
-Drew Stubbs: #
-Mike Stanton: Sending 2010 Topps Updates & Highlights
-Brian Matusz: #
-Lars Anderson: Sending 2010 Pawtucket Red Sox card
-Eric Young Jr: #
-Tony Gwynn Jr: #
-Mark Buehrle: #
-Huston Street: #
-Pat Neshek: #
-Matt LaPorta: #
-Grady Sizemore: #
-Clay Buchholtz: #
Is now too early to be sending out letters? I'm impatient.
Also, I want to send to Bobby Doerr and Stan Musial.
I heard that Musial sends back a signed postcard, is this true?
Lastly, there are a few '69 Mets I want to send to.
Tell me if you have had success with these players:
-Ken Boswell
-Jack DiLauro
-Art Shamsky
-J.C. Martin
-Jerry Koosman
-Jim McAndrew
I haven't found an addy for Shamsky or McAndrew. Does anyone have one that worked?

Musial was always a great signer but I heard his health is failing and he may in a hospital or hospice now. Thats about all I can help w/. Good luck!

All but Koosman sign, Koos requires a fee. And I wouldnt expect a return from Stanton or Buchholz

That's too bad, I really wanted Stanton and Buchholtz. I guess I'll replace them with Price and Jones like astros21 said. I might be willing to pay for Koos. I think it's 10 dollars.
Is now too early to send letters?

Yeah I have one out to Stanton that hasn't come back. As far as young Marlins though, Logan Morrison is a good signer.

Good luck with Adrian Gonzalez, as I think his signingg ttm days are up: he's with the Boston "We Don't Do Fan Mail" Red Sox
All the other guys you're going to send to are pretty fast ttm c/o ST. Good luck!

Looks like my list but with more ppl.
Are Capps and Phillips good signers? I was considering them but crossed them off my final list.
Again, is now too early to send letters? I'm sending to Pat Neshek at his home address. Is it too late?
Good luck getting Tobi Stoner, he wasn't invited to ST. He was on my list until I found out!!
