7. Info about me and the collection:
I take huge pride in my memorabilia. I go up to Mankato, MN with my family every year to watch the vikings training camp in july/august. Only being 18 years old, I think my collection is very good in my opinion (knowing I am still young and I have along time to add to it!). Most thing I collect are usually Vikings memorabilia but I also like hofers and popular player in baseball, basketball, and football. I would say my favorite item is a 1976 program signed by the Boston Red Sox team my dad passed down to me. Other than that I am looking to add on to the collection every year even though it might slow down when I hit college this year I look forward to the challange of keeping it going. If you want to know more, please feel free to ask.Last edited by Dhays12; 01-19-2012 at 12:46 AM.

7th Requirement - A Little Information on Your Collection
I started out collecting just plain old sports cards. Hockey was my big thing although I did collect the other 3 major sports. Had some older cards given to me as a kid as well. Still have alot of it today.
I got into game worn jerseys, particularly hockey when I had the money to spend on that. It is a pricey hobby that I'm staying out of right now. I have what I have and I'm happy with it.
A few of my favorite items are the game used sticks and gloves I have. One of the sticks was used by a former Boston Bruins goalie who had to retire due to the effects of having MS. Another favorite item is my set of game used goalie gloves of Andrew Raycroft. He was my favorite goalie with them when he broke into the league. It's not your typical item, as how many people can say they own something like that.
Right now I am not collecting as much as I used to due to not having as much funds, but I try to continue to at least collect whatever cards I can for purpose of getting them signed IP as I have season tickets to the Boston Bruins minor league team. They are local so that's just something to keep myself in the hobby besides the usual trading on SCF.

7th Requirement - A Little Information on Your Collection:
When i started this collection back around a year ago, i did not think it would take off like it has. I started off doing small stuff and then it just started going to bigger items(jerseys/sticks/bats). 90% of the items i have were signed in person. I travel frequently to Toronto for hockey signings and have traveled all over Pennsylvania for autograph opportunities.
I have started collecting sticks from the Pittsburgh Penguins. I buy 80% of them from the pens, to insure authenticity.
I just love traveling and meeting players and catching up with fellow autograph seekers. Thank you for taking the time to consider me for the memorabilia super collector and look forward to sharing my collection with others.

1st Requirement - Autographed Items Owned : You must have at least 50 autographed items.
Interestingly, after doing a count, I have exactly 50 items. However, I have made an effort to acquire items with multiple autographs so my 5 most autographed items have a combined 85 signatures.
My bucket shows 47 items. Not pictured are an Eagles program signed by KR/PR Vai Sikahema, and signed 3x5 index cards of Lynn Chandnois and George Tarasovic who played for the Steelers in the 1950's and early 1960's.
2nd Requirement- Game Worn/Used : We would like to see at least one Game Worn or Game Used item.
I own a few game worn items including a pair of gloves worn by Steelers LB James Farrior and another pair of gloves that were worn and signed by former Panthers RB Deshaun Foster.

http://i75.photobucket.com/albums/i2...lia/gloves.jpg
3rd Requirement- Miscellaneous Memorabilia : Keychains, Blankets, Mugs, Programs, Plates, Hats, etc. Will be considered but please remember these items must not make up the larger portion of your collection
If it is random Steelers stuff, you name it, I probably have it. I have been hoarding Steelers stuff for nearly 20 years. Just a short, quick list...
- Jerome Bettis BBQ sauce
- 10 Steelers commemorative Coca-Cola cans
- 1960's era Steelers beer mug
- Steelers soap
- Steelers lighters
- Steelers shot glasses
- a Steelers basketball (yes, a basketball)
- reproductions of the Steelers Super Bowl broadcasts from the 70's on CD
- Steelers teddy bears (a bunch of these)
- Steelers auto floor mats (never actually used in a car)
- Steelers popcorn
- miniature Steelers coffee cups
- a Steelers WalkMan radio shaped like a football helmet

http://i75.photobucket.com/albums/i2...a/miscmem2.jpg
Also have a lot of printed media items such as The Pittsburgh Post Gazette when the Steelers won Super Bowl XL, The Pittsburgh Post Gazette when they tore down Three Rivers Stadium, Super Bowl programs from the Steelers three most recent appearances, the first Beckett with BigBen on the cover, the first Beckett with Jerome Bettis in a Steelers uniform on the cover, 2009 Sports Illustrated Commemorative of the Steelers Super Bowl win over the Cardinals, 2006 Sports Illustrated Commemorative of the Steelers Super Bowl win over the Seahawks...lots more if you need a list.
And perhaps the coup de 'etat...printing plates from the sports section front page and stats page of the Washington Post when the Steelers won the Super Bowl XL in 2005.

http://i75.photobucket.com/albums/i2...bilia/07_3.jpg
4th Requirement- No Cards: Since this is a memorabilia forum, we are requesting that there are no cards used in trying to reach the goal of Super Collector. If you do have some cards that are done through the mail or in person, these will be considered, but nothing that is from one of the major card companies.
I included no cards in my count, however I have nearly 20 cards signed IP by Steelers from the 80's and 90's.
5th Requirement- Proof : We will need to see pictures, so please link your photobucket or website. If you are a Super Collector, we assume you would want to show your collection off! Let's see it! You should have the better portion of your Autos and other Memorabilia posted for us to review.
Everything except a few items that are stored away are pictured in this portion of my Photobucket.
http://s75.photobucket.com/albums/i2...9/Memorabilia/
6th Requirement- Post Count :You must have 300 posts on SCF or more to apply, those already in are exempt, but too many people are coming and posting with a handful of threads and never return.
I got this one covered...easily :)
7th Requirement - A Little Information on Your Collection
Let me know why you collect what you do, why you're drawn to the items you purchase and some of your favorite items.
The reason I collect memorabilia is because of my uncle. When I was a little kid I went to his house and he allowed me to visit "The Shrine" which was his playful name for his Redskins room. He had everything that one could find of the Redskins at the time from signed helmets to posters to jerseys. At that young age I promised myself that one day I would have a "Steelers Shrine". every since my early 20's I have been on a mission to achieve that goal.
My favorite item is a toss-up between two items. The Steelers team signed ball with 29 signatures and the Washington Post printing plates.
The signed ball has a soft spot because it is signed by the entire starting 22 players except James Farrior. With signatures of potential future HOF players like Hines Ward, BigBen, Polamalu, Farrior, Woodley and Heath Miller it has awesome collectible potential for both now and the future.
The Washinton Post printing plates are so significant for several reasons. One, newspaper printing plates are a rare find since the newspaper companies usually toss them in a recycling bin as soon as they remove them from the printing press which destroys them. The other reason is that Super Bowl XL is so significant because it was the one that Jerome Bettis retired immediately after.Last edited by duane1969; 04-18-2012 at 10:27 AM.

7th Requirement - A Little Information on Your Collection
Why did you start collecting this player:
Just before the lock-out in 2004/05, Jonas Hiller was trade to my city as a 2nd goalie. The 1st one of the Lausanne Hockey Club wasn't so good, but as Hiller was a new guy, nobody could believe him.
During the season, he played only 1-2 games, and he wasn't so bad, with some good saves.
To me, the coach had to give him a try for several games.
Then, during the playoff, the 1st goalie played so badly, that Hiller become number one and did a superbe finish for this season.
I was so happy that this goalie will come our number one !
But during the pre-season, the club told, through the newspaper, that Hiller was not a good player and will never be in our team the next year.
He went back to Davos, and played a wonderfull season with his news friends of Lock-Out Rick Nash and Joe Thornton. The next year, he moved to Anaheim.
I was so upset that he couldn't stay, that I followed him and when I realized the existence of Hockey cards, I started.
You know, in Switzerland, the hockey cards don't exist, so it was crazy to get too many autos, jersey, and numbered cards.
I liked that, and I did all my possible to get some pretty nice cards.
Nowadays, some member tell me that I have the biggest and sickest collection of Hiller and to my mind, this is really gratefull.

7. Info When i was a little kid i went to about 1 minor league a year. I always had fun but was never into autos, 2 years ago i went to my first game when i tried to get autos, i got 4, but i discovered that i could easily grow my collection. I got around 150 autos the first season and the next season my friend became the bat boy, he hooked me up with stuff every once in a while but the Carlo Testa game used bat was my favorite, i had about 200 autos that season, this season i have already got a bat from a player and got 57 autos after only 2 games. I also pick up any eagles stuff i can. My highlights are 2 McNabb signed 16x20s, a DeSean Jackson ball and m collection of probably 25 8x10s. I love collecting autographs directly from the players and dont see my self stopping any time soon...Im 16 by the wayLast edited by jake; 06-25-2012 at 07:36 PM.
