The Game Rush: Flames vs. Avalanche

An in-depth look at the Flames-Avs tilt

DENVER, CO -- The Calgary Flames were able to break out of their four-game losing skid on Tuesday with a 4-2 victory in Denver over the Colorado Avalanche.

David Moss scored the game winner with his first tally of the season.

"It's nice," Moss told Sportsnet West. "For the team to get a win and to score a goal, it feels good."

Mikael Backlund and Curtis Glencross also found the back of the net in the win.

Miikka Kiprusoff had another strong outing, allowing two goals on 31 shots.

Backlund picked up his first point since Oct. 26 when he was able to score the tying marker in the 3rd period. The young centerman skated into the slot as his linemates, Niklas Hagman and David Moss, crashed and banged around the net. When the puck ended up on his stick, he wasted no time in throwing it over Budaj's shoulder and into the back of the net. Backlund now has three goals and five points on the season.

Good for Backlund! Great player, though he is a bit underrated.
