SP stands for short print so yes it is worth more.

They don't number all of the SPs. You have to check UD's website to find out.

To be particular. Upper Deck doesn't necessarily state how many of the short prints are produced. You generally guess that amount based on how many of a particular SP card is pulled compared to the heavier produced cards of the same set. UD just lists it as an SP. You have to do the math if possible.Searching for: Jagr, Palffy, Stumpel, and Boyd

Before SP Serial numbers, there were colour tricks, and gimmicks to make the cards just a little different.
SP's are manifested in Foil & Cardboard Thickness, (ie - 97-98 UD Game Dated) which are impossible to find, as well as Bowman YoungStars and Stadium Club, as well as the early Bowman. Sheen like the 90-91 Topps and Bowman Tiffany, Colour, Halo's around the player in a different colour (ie) 99-00 UD Ovation SP's. Lines or Stripes like Aurora and 99-00 UD Ultimate Victory. Silver Foil, and Ghosting like mid 90's Pinnacle.Last edited by centrehice; 11-13-2010 at 02:25 AM.

Upper Deck likes to SP certain players in Game Used and Auto sets that aren't #'d. Makes it tough to know if you have an SP. The 09/10 UD Series 1 Toews Game Jersey is SP'd and sells in the $150+ range since it is very tough for set collectors to find. The Semin Black Diamond Quad jersey was SP'd and it sold over $100+. I know some of the SOTT are SP'd and they go quite high along with the SP'd IceScript autos. OPC Triple or Quad Jersey's from various years would have 1 or 2 SP'd cards.
The Lemieux SP Game Jersey is likely a $100 card but I'm not positive on the exact price.

Saku Koivu 05-06 Ice Scripts is BV$400 and Mats Sundin is BV$300 when Wayne "The Great One" Gretzky is only $300 and Gordie "Mr Hockey" Howe is BV$125
And my Favorite "SP" moment of all time - is when someone tells me a base card they have from The Cup is a SP or SSP....when they are ALL #/249....

Tell me about it. I've searched for the Toews forever and bid two of them up to $200. SP's are good.
