No, the Pittsburgh Penguins and Washington Capitals aren't losing their superstar captains, but Crosby or Ovechkin could be selected first when the NHL all-star game gets a makeover unlike any other.

NHLer's choosing players might surprise a few folks.
I fully expect some respected players (ie) Gentlemanly attitude might get selected over nasty behaving players with points. We will just have to see.
I'm glad the fans don't get to choose, as they haven't gotten things correct in years.

I believe they get to pick from a pool of players - not sure who determine those players but it wont be anyone in the NHL..

You aren't kidding - those Penguins fans really ruined it for the rest of us by getting their guys in the starting lineup in 2009.

when the all star game was in montreal, komisarek was voted in as a starter. I really could not believe it back then and watching him play now, I still can't believe it.

What's worse now is that the NHL put out a list of available starters for the fans to vote on and the listed players are a joke.

In Mtl you have NO Price
In Toronto you can vote for Giguere, Phaneuf, Kaberle, Kessel
In Pits you have MAF I finally have a win
The Rangers have Lunny on there, puke me to death.
Teh Isles have Streit I've been hurt since night one.
Brodeur is a there, it's hard to say anything bad about because he was a god.
So in the end I'm guessing this list was made in August. But four Leafs, they're on pace to lose until March!

I was going to say if they could pick anyone in the NHL it would pretty much be Washington Capitals vs. Pittsburgh penguins but in All-star jerseys :-)... But good thing they made some kind of rule...
