One of my best successes in a long time: received a letter from Bobby Shantz, one of the last great Philadelphia A's. I asked Shantz about his incredible feat of striking out Whitey Lockman, Jackie Robinson, and Stan Musial consecutively in the 1952 All-Star Game and about his recollections of Connie Mack. He gave great answers to both questions. Considering the historical context, I consider this to be one of the greatest pieces of my baseball collection.

Mr Shantz was also kind enough to throw in a signed 4X6 glossy. Now to write that thank you letter.

Thanks, Harley, and you're right, Bobby Shantz is a great guy, especially for being such a star as he was for the Athletics. I was recently reading that attendance nearly doubled at Shibe Park when Shantz was pitching.

Bobby Brown added his sig to my photo, already signed by Jerry Coleman, of the Yankees after a 1950 World Series game. Dimaggio had just hit a home run to win the game.

Bill Virdon signed my pic of him batting in Forbes Field in just five days. Very cool of him.
