Wow. Seller is over at HI, and has confirmed that the buyer paid.
Amazing price.

And, considering their respective accomplishments (Big E and Marty), and regardless of that being one of the first big "rookie" cards and symbolic in hockey card history, you could say this is a steal:

are you kidding me? that is ridiculous for a card with no more upside. This buyer should have just bought five Steve Stamkos Ultimate Auto /99 rookie cards with that money. Or just something else. Or just buy the Duchene I am trying to sell, anything but that!
Yes what a world unless Lindros was trying to buy it back from himself....

Why harp on passionate player collectors? That would be THE quintessential Lindros card.
Buyback RC auto's are extremely popular, especially if they didn't have auto's originally.
The Ken Griffey Jr UD Buyback RC Auto, the Derek Jeter UD Buyback Auto have sold for large amounts and were more readily available, the Fleer Michael Jordan version sold for 5 times more than the Lindros.

As one of those "passionate player collectors" I can see where the desire to own that card would come from. But as a guy that can't stand Eric Lindros... LOL
Good on the winner for bagging what they feel is an epic piece to their collection, but even better on the seller for getting that kind of a return on the card. Win-win, as it were.

I agree, I have overpaid for cards I really wanted. So whoever bought it I hope it is for their pc and not for investment purposes. And I hope they did not see the final price for the 2/5. You can't tell me their heart will not drop if they saw that. That's the thing, there's overpaying and feeling good about it cause you know that is what the fair value is. But then there is overpaying and realizing it could have been had for peanuts. That was not case for Griffey and Jeter buybacks but it is in this case.
