    Always happy to answer questions. Obviously some of this is more 'opinion' than hard fact.... which is why I love this forum. You gets lots of input :)


    My take on Grading is this.... If the card is from 1989 or newer, I wouldn't pay a dime more for anything less than a 10. I don't see the point. As RGM pointed out - in modern collecting times, with modern production techniques, there is no reason why we should be getting cards that arn't Near Mint, or better. I've actually bought 9s in the past, and cracked them out of the case. The 9 was cheaper than that 'raw' card, but I had no use for the holder. Wanted the cards in top loaders, so they would fit with the rest of my collection.

    For Vintage cards, I totaly see the point. If I were buying a Gretzky RC (for example) I know the condition, and I'm fairly gaurenteed that it's real... if I buy graded.

    It's really a 'to each his own' thing though. I chated with one guy at the expo last weekend, who collects Young Guns, with a PSA Grade of 10.
