Important UM-10 Recall
In The Game, Inc. announced today the recall of the UM-10 Ultimate Emblem of Antero Niittymaki card number 7298/7500.
The emblem piece was identified as a piece of an emblem from Niittymaki's 2010 Team Finland Olympic Game-Used jersey. Since the time the card was made, In The Game has learned that Niittymaki did not play in that game and the jersey is game-issued.
"We do not use team-issued, photo-shoot, event-worn or old-timers jerseys in our products" said ITG President, Dr. Brian H. Price, "I don't think this is what collectors want, it may be what they accept from other manufacturers but if given a choice, authentic game-worn memorabilia is what they want."
The jersey was purchased on eBay from the NHLPA as an authentic game-worn jersey and came with an NHLPA Certificate of Authenticity.
"We had no reason to doubt the legitimacy of this jersey since it was acquired from the NHLPA with their COA" Price said, "but when a collector brought this to our attention, we did further research and confirmed that Niittymaki did not play in the game as stated by the NHLPA."
In The Game will make arrangements with the owner of the card to make a different Niittymaki Ultimate Emblem card.
"I guess the balance of the jersey will have to be scrapped unless anyone wants to buy a game-issued jersey with a little piece out of it" Price stated with a smile.

Wow, talk about sticking to a mission statement. This is something that may have gone by without much argument, as it is Niittymaki. I applaud you and your company, Dr. Price, for having the integrity and respect for your customers to take care of something like this. If only the other two could take note. While this doesn't affect me as I don't buy super high end products, this makes me look forward to the likes of Heroes & Prospects and Between the Pipes that much more!

That's a great PR move. I'm sure it's going to win ITG a lot of fans. Kudos for showing integrity in this hobby.
PS: If you happen to have the Kessel Team USA GU and not cut it up yet, please sell the entire jersey to me instead.

Dr. Price could sell the remainder of that jersey to Upper Deck...
This is why I love ITG. It has a great president, it has great customer service, and it is a company that really goes out of its way to make great products, not just to toss out whatever comes to mind.

That's a nice business touch, probably to be replaced with a card or cards of players who's star perhaps shine a little brighter than Nitti's.
Upper Deck should pay attention.

THANK YOU SO MUCH ITG & BRIAN PRICE!!! Upper Deck sure doesn't care about issues like this at all!!!
Panini should take notice and do it like this!
I know now I can be 1 million percent confident that any ITG memorabilia I get is GAME WORN memorabilia!!!
I believe I have a tonne of fake stuff from Upper Deck and Upper Deck's word something is authentic is worthless IMHO!
