Removing autographs from a card?
Long story short, I'll copy and paste what I've already written on a players appearance thread on the Saints fan forum.
Here's a pathetic story for everyone.
Lance Moore, Darren Sharper, and Roman Harper were doing a signing tonight at Asterisk in Hammond. It was 22 dollars per autograph and the signing was from 7-9 PM. My girlfriend lives in Hammond so I got her to go out there for me to get Sharper, because I need him for a set I'm trying to complete.
Here's where it gets good, the signing starts at 7, she sends me a text at exactly 9:05 that they JUST got there. I text her back and forth for a while, as of 9:22 they STILL aren't out the limo they came in. Fast forward to 10:11 she calls me to say when she got up to the door they wanted 60 dollars and she paid it, even though I told her not too.
Here's the flyer, and you can see it clearly says 22 per.

EDIT: Add to that, they made them ALL signed my card which completely ruins the entire card...60 dollars down the drain. Would anyone join me in sending nasty emails saying how pidfadfed off I am?
So my question is, is there anyway that effectively gets autographs off a card? I want to get Moore and Harper off the card, and keep just Sharper.

IDK about the card thing but your gf is a trooper. I had my gf go get me Willie Davis' autograph and asked her to get there like 20 mins early and she complained the whole time to me through text. Thank God Willie asked her what a pretty girl was doing her by herself or else I don't think she would ever get me another auto. Hopefully you compensated your gf well

i think getting rid of autographs on a card is stupid, I know it kind of destroys your set, but unless youre selling it it doesnt matter. You still have the player's you needed, just with some others. I would think that makes the card cooler, not "worthless." Granted, to each his own, and I would never tell another person how to collect. However, you asked for input, and that's my opinion.
But yes, more props to your girlfriend. My girlfriend is really great with this stuff, but she was traumatized last year in tampa. I was on the rays side getting carl crawford, she stayed behind and JOE MAUER came over. She went up to him and asked him for an auto, he said he'd get her in a minute. Then he proceeded to sign for like 20 people to her left and her right but NOT HER. To this day we cant figure out why. My girlfriend thinks he's gay, but I think maybe he thought that she was a girlfriend trying to get a duplicate for her boyfriend who he had already signed for.
Maybe we should start a thread for "significant other auto stories" I'm sure others have cool stories too.
Back to your original question, sharpies are called "permanent" for a reason- I think you'll just damage the card by removing them. It sucks that they did that AND overcharged her, but it is what it is and you have a cool card and a cool story, and still have the auto on the card for the set, just with a few friends along with it.
Hope this helps,
E

I know that rubbing alcohol works on the more glossy and protected cards, but it can just as easily destroy a card... =\

I was very unhappy at first, but after I cooled off a bit I decided I'll keep trying to get Darrens auto (I still have another card) and if I'm not successful, his auto is infact on that card, which is good enough for me.
Thanks for the help guys!

If it is a glossy card you can just use a pencil eraser. This sounds stupid, but I swear it work, write over the signature with a dry eraser marker then use a dry eraser and it will take off, too. Rubbing alcohol works, but is risky. I've had it do nothing but dull the signatures before. If the card is dull there's no hope.
