Thoughts about a potential project
Hi all,
I have always been a player collector but doing loads of box breaks has got me into looks at base and inserts and how cardsets are put together.
My first ever cards were 97-98 Score, as some of you will know from my videos. I've had a half-finished set hanging around for years as I could never quite bring myself to get rid of them. Then I bought a box and have pretty much completed the base.
However, an idea is niggling at me - to collect ALL the cards in this set. To put this into perspective, each base cards has three variations and there are at least five insert sets. Each base has:
- Golden Blades, Rink Collection, Artists Proof
Then there are
- Check-It, Net Worth, Epix Play, Epix Moment and I think one other
...and they're 13 years old. You can still buy wax boxes, though I'd like to do as much as possible through trading.
Does anyone think this is possible/feasible? Or am I going to send myself mad?

If you take a long-term approach to it, sure a master set is possible. It may take some time for the tough pulls to surface, and you may end up paying more for them as a consequence, but the key is to not get discouraged. There's always another copy out there, there's always going to be another day to grab more!
Habs fan and collector! Current PC's: Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, and Lane Hutson...., and of course...

I'm very tempted. I don't think it'll be easy but I also suspect that people will be willing to give up cards from that set. If I'm thinking about it this much I reckon it's on LOL

I know on dacardworld.com they have 97/98 Score boxes. But idk if they ship overseas. I also have a bunch of cards from that set as well.

I've had two out of them already ;-)
I think it is do-able. In fact I have put aside all the inserts I had for trade as it appears I will be needing them...

You'd have to be willing to spend a long time working on it. Probably years. But it could be done.
Many of those parallel cards can be had for cheap ($1, or less). I would suspect I've got a handful of them (I'll have a look, if you like).
Some will be tough to find though. May get lucky and find someone selling a larger lot, but I would think that getting singles of common players will be tough.

Good luck with the artist proofs, I still see some of them sell for a decent amount of money! The rest should be somewhat easy although don't be convinced that people will just give them up. Yes some will but a lot of people try to get full book value out of them so you will most likely have to pass on those deals. I can speak from experience as I mainly collect 90's stuff.
