how do you bust packs?
just wondering if you all have superstitions, things you take with you, god luck charms, a pattern you follow
for me i buy packs of overproduced GU/AUTOS until i hit a gu or auto then move onto a new product... for instance
yesterday i started busting prestige packs and on my 6th pack hit the carrere FOTG auto so istopped busting those packs and went on to topps chrome.. busted those till i hit a GU and stopped...
what are some of your tricks of the trade

I've never had any good luck with single packs so I never buy em. :D Singles or sealed boxes only.

hah i wish there were card shops where packs werent pre searched in my area. but in the few cases where the shopkeep opend a fresh box i would buy from back to front(pristine) or top top to bottom. on most standard boxes with a 2 x 2 configuration i always go top left first. the good stuff is in that stack everyone knows it =)

thats what i love about my shop... there have been sooo many good pulls i have witnessed it is pretty much impossible to think he searches... plus he is a very old man who has been running his shop since the late 60's.... a truly "good guy" in the hobby

sounds like you got a good deal going there. usually me and my buddy buy a box of the same thing and if we hit one of the inserts the other one will open packs from the same place... sometimes it works out but not usually. i still think its fun to look for insertion patterns.

I'm more of a box/case buyer myself. Single just arent worth it usually in the long run.

When I bust a box I open each pack slowly, and I peek inside, If I see it's a GU, I toss it aside and move on. That way I see all the JSY/Auto stuff at the end. I guess it's dumb, but I just like saving the best for last. Once in awhile the autos are tuff to spot so I see them on mistake, but usually it works.

I also pretty much only open boxes... But...
I open the box, set it down to my left, and just take out the front pack. I kind of squeeze/bend the pack a little and guess if there's a GU/auto in it. Then I open it, look, and pass them to my dad (we bust them together).
