What Is a Super Collector? – I’m a Super Collector Lite

By Guy Mitchell aka Sweetg1Back in the 70s, 80s and 90s, I was what I considered a Super Collector. I had most of the cards of my favorite players. I had Walter Payton’s rookie card and most of his other cards. When Topps was the only game in town, it was easy. Life was good. [...]

Great Read! Definately a relatable article for us guys who are trying to get up there on certain players, teams, or memorabilia.

Nice article but what would you call someone who has about 95% of someones stuff but the player is still a rookie?? My lafell pc is huge but can't be considered a supercollector until he has a second year card. I have 4 suprfractors with 3 of them autoed and 9 other 1/1's with about 220 other cards and multipule dups of the low numbered cards out of /25 /15 and /10 am I considered lite?

That was one of the best articles I have read!

At this point, I simply tell myself that I cannot compete and I will never grace the pages of Tuff Stuff or Beckett or ever be considered for Super Collector status in SCF. Life was no longer good.

Untrue! I was in baseball Beckett where the main article was about "The Supercollector". In no way am I even close, but my philosophy was an "alternative" to supercollecting. I guess it was to ensure that there is nothing wrong if one is unable to be a supercollector. Not everyone can be one.

I told myself that anyone could buy all the cards they wanted if they had the money.

And this is KEY. Again, not everyone will have the financial resources to do so.

    A very enjoyable read!
