My first IP auto was Ron Hextall in 1987 at a local sporting goods store. My family knew the owner of the store so I was able to move to the front of the line and he signed a few things for me and posed for a picture with my family.

Ken Griffey Jr. at a show in 1990. Had him sign my 89 UD card and an unofficial baseball.

Franco Harris signed a photo for me when I was really little, like 3-4 years old. He was still playing, and was down the jersey shore for some event. I had no idea who he was, but my brother was really excited. It took a little while, obviously, for me to figure out why.

Living in Iowa, my opportunities suck..

But I got Ryne Sandberg at an I-Cubs game this past July. The guy is a class act.

My first IP auto is one of those sweet boyhood memories...

I don't remember a thing about the game. The memory is actually more dream like. It was my first big league game that I attended. It was just my father, grandfather, and I heading out to good ole Veteran's Stadium to see the Phillies. All I remember is standing along the 1st baseline and meeting a big league player for the very first time.

Randy Ready. Wait...who? He actually, played either 2nd base or SS for the Phillies.

My dad bought a 1990 Phillies Yearbook for me and Randy Ready signed his photo on the inside. I remember him towering over me, and I must have been in shock b/c my dad nudged me and made sure I thanked him. Being starstruck after meeting a big leaguer I mustered up a weak "Th-th-thank you." I think my dad cracked some kind of joke then, and I actually remember a big smile coming across Randy's face and he let out a laugh and said something that I can't clearly recall. He was very nice.

I still have that yearbook. I got a couple more autographs that day, but I can't recall who without pulling out the book. Randy was the first.
