    I’m Not a Super Collector?!?

By Drew Pelto aka *censored* What is a super collector? Apparently, not me, at least not at Sports Card Forum. The definition of Super Collector varies from person to person. To one person, it’s he or she who is trying to collect everything of their favorite team or player. I was that way for a

great article. funny thing is I'm that guy. I collect OPC (being in canada) and just started picking up Topps hockey sets from the 1970's. I am also working on about 15 different autograph sets, either ttm or in person. And on top of that I decided to try and get an autograph from every player still alive that played in the NHL and WHA, (just hit 1800 players). Plus I collect individual players and mcfarlane figs. I suppose I could be a super collector. At least by your definition :)

Super Collector has nothing to do with cards. I know a guy in Flin Flon, Manitoba that has every Habs Jersey of every Habs player that was alive in 1986. His are personally signed.

He doesn't own one Hockey card. He is a Super Collector.

Good article with some definite merit. Sometimes I think many of us focus too much on the percentages of our collections and only collect to cross stuff of the list, rather than just enjoying the cards themselves. Everyone has some sort of collection that they would deem super, but the important thing us to enjoy what you have, and not to get a little badge under your username, especially if you don't go on the site very often anyways.

    And the nitpicker in me...
"And not buy buying factory sets, but by busting packs and boxes and chewing the gum inside."
    Shouldn't that be "by"?

This is a Sports Card site...our "Super Collectors" are judge by their collection of cards amongst other things...but Cards are a key element here. Everyone has a different opinion as to what it really means...Here, it has a lot to do with the players cards.

Nice!! I'm a super collector in your terms too I guess.

I'm working on the 90/91 Topps set. It was my favourite set as a kid and currently I'm at about 108/396 so roughly 27% complete. I've been working on it for two years. Living in Canada I'm at a disadvantage becaue their are plenty of retired players in the set that live in the US. I usually only buy US stamps twice a year when I cross the border. I will send out a huge stack of mail from the US since it's much cheaper doing it that way.

Good luck with your topps total set and maybe, just maybe I will be at 70% someday with my Topps set!
