Roster for world junior camp lacks the star power of recent years
BY: Paul Hunter
They’ll be wearing red and white but their attitude will be decidedly “blue collar.”
Hockey Canada announced its camp roster for its entry into this year’s world junior championship on Monday and there was a noticeable absence of star power.
That’s not to say several of these teenagers won’t become household names during the tournament that has become a post-Christmas television staple. But when the 39 players gather at Toronto’s MasterCard Centre for the selection camp from Dec. 12 to 15, there will be no Taylor Hall or John Tavares, known quantities that already resonate even with casual fans.

LOL What you don't like mega-corporations trying to do a little social engineering on hockey crowds?
Lots of Habs prospects at the camp: Leblanc, Gallagher, and Bournival should hopefully make some good impressions.
Nice to see Tyson Barrie from the Rockets get invited back.
Wonder if his teammate Shane McColgan will be on the US team?
Habs fan and collector! Current PC's: Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, and Lane Hutson...., and of course...

I don't know how the invitation process works but there were some very good players left off the list.

Consider the following players would all be eligible, if they wern't in the NHL....
Kyle Clifford (Los Angeles), Matt Duchene (Colorado), Taylor Hall (Edmonton), Evander Kane (Atlanta), Ryan O’Reilly (Colorado), Brayden Schenn (Los Angeles) Tyler Seguin (Boston) and Jeff Skinner (Carolina)

USA is going to have a good team again. Several returning players, and some young additions like Etem, Pitlick, and McColgan. Plus their u-18 team played very well in the ivan hlinka tournament. Canada could very well be an underdog this year, or as much as they will ever be.

Greg Mckegg, Ethan Werek, Scott Glennie, Christian Thomas, OHL scoring leader Tyler Toffoli and WHL scoring leader Brendan Ranford.
All could have and probably should have got invites, it might just be me but if your leading your league in scoring you at least deserve a look for the WJHC team.

Will be tough, just like last year. Will be tougher without the likes of the 'star players' though.
