    Redsfest Auto's

Some nice auto's for my Reds collection. I mostly went with old school players because of the lines plus players that would help me finish my '86 team set.

Here are a couple autos I picked up at the memorabilia tables, I was wondering if they were legit or not? I got them really cheap so I won't be too terribly upset if they are not real. I haven't really seen enough of these 2 autos to know for sure about them I just bought them on a whim. Thanks.

That's a nice collection of autos, unfortunately I could only go Sat. Everyone I talked to that went both days said Fri was not as busy and a good day for graphing.

I wanted to go through the Davis/Power/Benzinger line but I was in the Oester/Browning line and they took the entire hour to sign for only a small number of people. I thought maybe I would get lucky and get in both lines but no such luck. Next year I'm going both days. Did you see the lines for Chapman and Votto? I tried but they cut off the line after so many people lined up.

I'm glad the Smith and Gwynn seem to be legit. I know these guys are both tough TTM, I paid less than $20 for both.

Jack Billingham! Wow! Great addition to the Reds collection! Wish I had been there. I still do not believe that Marty is a HOF member! Lifelong Reds fan and he does not belong there. Those two HOF autos look good to me as well. Tony used to sign one at a time per request years ago and The Wizard of OZ signed great when he first went into the HOF. You will still see a good number of them around, but neither has signed good TTM for years!

No i did not see that line, but I bet it was the longest line of the whole event. Benzinger is one of the nicest guys there is and he put 1990 world series champs on the ball for me. Saturday was definately more crowded. I walked in around 2 and felt extremely closterphobic which is not characteristic of me. On friday in the last 20 minutes i was able to hop in three different lines and could have gotten in a fourth, but was getting crabbed at by my gf.

I'm shocked Chapman signed, he is a huge jackoff. I saw the reds AAA team in scranton and tried to graph after the game, it was maybe me and 5 other guys and a little girl, a daughter of one of the guys, maybe 5 years old.

Instead of coming out with the rest of the players, he had security escort him out a side door and into the bus very quickly, and he promptly put on his headphones and put his head against the bus window looking at us. The little girl started crying and walked over to his window and held the ball up with a pen right to his face on the other side of the window. He just kept looking at us with a blank expression on his face. Then he proceeded to talk on the phone for a long while still while looking right at us.

Finally his agent/translator came by and said "why are you crying?" She told him what was wrong and he brought the ball on the bus and had him sign it (but not before the hitting coach said "the girl has to learn the meaning of no!" in perfect earshot of all of us including her father- he was about ready to punch that guy in the face).

So bottom line: that communist cuban as$hole was willing to sit there watching this girl cry until his agent a decent human being said "hey, maybe we should do the right thing."

Sorry, felt the need to vent that- it sucked bad enough that I didn't get his auto, but for him to snub the girl? ™™™™ poor. At least I got Juan Francisco that night...

Ya thats pretty di*k, but he barely speaks english. I heard thats why he doesnt sign because people try to talk to him and the only way he can respond is through an interpreter. Oh well what can you do.
