Relax Leafs Fans: It’s Not Time to Fire Wilson Yet

On December 2nd I was lucky enough to be there live, and watch my beloved Edmonton Oilers walk into the Air Canada Centre – and absolutely pummel the Toronto Maple Leafs 5-0. While I was loving it, along with several hundred other Oiler fans, understandably the Leafs faithful were showering their team with boos. I even saw one fan toss his Leafs jersey from the upper deck, into the lower one.

I rather them be losing with a young team than an old one with ridiculous contracts.

The leafs (depending who dresses) are the youngest team in the league.

Are you sure it's not the Oilers? I thought the Leafs were 2nd or 3rd youngest in the league. Doesn't matter. You can't renovate the entire team with a young group and expect instant positive results. The only thing I worry about now is that the fans and media will be all over Burke about giving Boston another top 5 pick in 2011. And then, they'll turn their attention to Kessel (who's not at-fault here) and run him out of town. I am confident that Burke will stay the course and continue with his plan. I am just worried that upper management will start meddling a little too soon and break the whole team apart again and set us back another 10 years. Burke and Wilson need to stay and see this through.

When Kadri and Aulie went into the lineup they became the youngest. Also thought it was funny that Beauchemin and a couple other Leaf players had waffles thrown at them after the game last night. lol

Well, this was the game story before the Leafs played the Oilers last week.
Big story -- These two squads that are in last place in their respective conferences are young, rebuilding teams. The Maple Leafs are the youngest team in the NHL, averaging 26.7 years. The Oilers, averaging 27.0 years, are third-youngest. Toronto coach Ron Wilson has called on his young players to be "spoilers" the rest of the season and they have responded with recent wins over playoff contenders Boston, Ottawa and Tampa Bay. The Oilers have been decimated by injuries this season in goal, on defense and among the forwards.
I don't know if it is referring to starting line up or entire roster or whatever but yea. And I don't know how Horcoff and Hemsky being hurt will effect that, I do know that I'd much rather be an Oilers fan right now.Last edited by BeeZeR; 12-10-2010 at 03:54 PM.
