Worst box you ever opened.

Please post the 'hits' from the worst box that you ever opened.


Mine was from 2008-09 Heroes and Prospects and I pulled a Marc-Andre Gregnani one colour(white) jersey and a Jonathan Matsumoto auto. That is all. Plus I bought it when the product came out and it cost me somewhere around $100 after tax.

Just to add salt to the wound I remember looking at other peoples box breaks and I am not lying when I say this. Someone else pulled a Gregnani jersey and Matsumoto auto from a box but their box also had a Stamkos complete jersey in it.

Ouch that is rough. My worst was an 09-10 SPA. My 2 future watch autos were Michael Sauer and Ray Macias and got SOTT Colton Gillies . As I was ripping the last half of my box as I was mad at that point I ended up seeing a sleeved card come out hoping that it was a sick double sided 7 or 8 SOTT. To my surprise it ended up being a champions auto of some figure skater I didnt know that some of the champions cards came sleeved as all my other previous ones werent. That was a rough one.

the figure skater champions..with a COA..are more valuable they are petty rare i sold mine 50$..so its not that bad

the rest plain gu...of random players...nothing valuable

but actually after thinking about it:

Ultimate 09-10: out of 4 boxes 2 were horrible and 2 were awesome

bad boxes:

base, random rc, couture rc auto, rc jersey of a pens unknown rc combined value not even 30$

base, random rc, lars eller rc auto , dionne dual jersey again value not even 30$


gd boxes base, random rc, couture rc auto, cam ward /10 patch auto way better
base, random rc, del zotto rc auto, anisimov debut threads patch auto rookie /25

lol, those ultimate are hard to get to

I wish mine was the expensive figure skater. I got Madison Chock and I would be lucky to get $3 for her unfortunately.

My worst break wasn't too long ago, actually, and I posted it here on the forums. Compared to other breaks being posted, it was most likely stellar, but to me it was pure crap.

It was an 08-09 SPGU and here's what I got..

Dual Game Used Fabrics are your typical insert for SPGU and the best I managed to pull out was Gilmour. The rest of them were a bunch of commons.

The best rookie was Brandon Sutter.

Also got a Significant Swatches (GU + Auto /50) of..... Tomas Holmstrom.

I got a GOLD SPECTRUM insert (/10) of.... Olli Jokinen.

And a Game Used TRIOS (/25) of.... St.Louis/Lecavalier/Malone. All BLACK swatches.

Don't these want to make you fall asleep?!

worst box HANDS DOWN:

05-06 SP Authentic "Wave 1" - i got 1 FW RC Auto (forgot who) and 1 SOTT (again, forgot who)

SP Authentic was so bad that year demand dropped like a rock and UD was forced to cancel "Wave 2". instead, they put "Wave 2" into 06-07 SP Authentic where i proceeded to pull my Crosby FW RC along with a Malkin SOTT. :)

For me - I once opened a box of Pro Set and... well, nevermind.

That's almost the same as mine, over $100 and just two auto's of guys I didn't know. I was pretty peaved how the ratios of pulling a Sid/AO were skewed between waves.

2001-02 Spx Box- $60.00

I got some lame 4th line thumber Matt Matteucci Junior as the only jersey in the box. It resold on eBay for one dollar. I got some kraut named Robert Schnabel as the Rookie, I had to give it away in trade, it as it didn't sell on eBay, nobody wanted it.

To add insult to injury, I won Two Redemption Rookies (you are only suppose to get one, IF you get any):

1. Rick Nask
2. Shawn Thornton

I sent them in for redemption, and Upper Deck did not send me back either card.

After many letters, I still got nothing. To this day I disdain Upper Deck for what they did to me, and I send in every slightly damaged card to them for something better, if it's not good enough, I call them and ask for more,. and have done so on more than a dozen occasions.
