    Making money from cards

Hi, I was wondering if anyone could give some tips on how to get into making some support income from cards...I dont really need to make a living of it but it would be nice if I could finance my pc through the income i could generate from cards...I did some research and most people suggest not to bust boxes, rather buy singles in bulks...but usually when you buy in bulks you end up with a lot of crappy cards, no? Could you help me with some advice regarding this? thanks...

Although this hobby is mostly for fun, there are ways to make some money. Such as buying cards from ebay, and then reselling them for a higher price on here. And if you dont wanna lose money, dont trade. I dunno how much shipping costs in the UK, but I know that for here, a bubble mailer, and shipping costs cost a total of $3 for one package. If I wanted to ship 2 packages, that would be $6, which could pay for a card.
But remember that this hobby is for fun, and is not a second job ;)

    Hope this helps! :)

I search Ebay and the forum all the time, mostly for my collection, but if i run into something i know for a fact i can make some money on, i grab it. It works both ways also. You can find deals on here that you can flip on the Bay or vice versa.

Max91ess seems to have some decent success in busting boxes/cases rather than buying singles and reselling them for profit. You might want to pick his brain. The usual strategy is to break brand new products before or on product release date, and sell them as quickly as possible before others do.

Gotta find your niche and stick to it.

And at first, you will fail. Don't be a fool.

BUt with time, practice and much much buying, you will be able to get a grip on what could sell and what will not.

You have to have fun too, otherwise, it's a tiring chore.

Like anything gotta know the market ...

Track ebay and it's not too hard to see what does well. (basically anything of legendary HOF, Crosby, Ovechkin, and right now Stamkos, outside of that it's getting unique cards or limited release cards or certain releases i.e the Cup).

Busting boxes is nuts! You could get a big hit, but more times you won't. I list on ebay for high end collectors, make straight commision on the sales, no money out of my pocket. Or buying bulk singles and making an ebay store works as well. Even if you get a bunch of "crappy" cards someone is always looking to finish a set so if you have the "crap" that nobody else is bothering to list then you will get the sale. It is a tedious endeavour and there is a ton of competition. You'll need to build a reputation and a following, once you have that you will be successful.

    What did i teach you....

YEs when i breka products and resell them the 1st 2-3 days..i do some money but thats only for fun:)

To make money you need to:

Look regularly on ebay from cards that are "steals" or "low prices" compared to the average selling price on ebay.

Then you put the BIN or best offer..start with a Bin pretty much 20-30% more than what your looking for the card ( generally look to get an amount so you can cover ebay fees( averaging 10%) + some profit..)

Then, you can buy on the forum some nice lots for resale..some are very profitable:P

In my experience..i went from cheap 1-2$ gu to high end...in maybe 6 months..now i got everything from low end 1$ cards to 300$ cards...

And my PC is fully sponsored by my selling, plus i pay some payments ( for university + visa) with the profits..

OR, you can find yourself ans OSCAR, who buys from you, haha

Gd luck, if you need tips pm me

    MAxim

Players to go for right now( Price, toews, kane, lemieux, roy, any hof, crosby, ovechkin)
Players not to go after( Stamkos ( his cards are overevaluated right now), malkin, not star players)

I've always been tempted to try to sell cards and try to finance my collection, but I'm just not sure that getting a foothold in the industry would be feasible for a student like me. Maybe though. I always get the feeling like I spend enough on cards without investing from a business standpoint haha.

Good luck man, I hope it works out for you.

in my opinion, buy low sell high is the best moto in the situation. buying lots can make you money! ive bought many lots (mostly to support my tradepage) and alot of them i could have sold one card at a time, and made a profit. you just have to keep your eyes wide open on deals that come about because if its a "steal", its not gonna be available for long!

busting boxes can make you money, but alot of times it wont. if you do take this path, the best way to do is like what some have said, Break a box on the day it comes out and sell the hits A.S.A.P! usually you have to strike gold in order to make a profit this way.

sometimes another route you can take is trying to collect a player you think has the team that will win the stanley cup that year. winning the stanley will make the prices jump. its more of a gamble, but i bought a patric kane victory rookie before they won the stanley, and after that i sold it for double what i bought it for!

    hope this helps!
