Rant on Event used for non-rookies.

Ok I think Event used cards are stupid, I know for rookies it might be hard to make game used so I can somewhat accept it for early release products. But getting an event used jersey card for a retired star player is just a bunch of hog wash.

There that my little rant of the day.

It's either that or the companies spend big dollars tracking down and verifying jerseys from retired stars who played in the 80s and 90s.

my question always been is what is event used? is it a old timers game or tiger williams opening a chilli cook off wearing a canucks jersey? is it an NHL event or NHLPA event, I just want them to be more specific, cause I still belive I have a steve shutt patch from a zellers promo jersey he wore at a signing in the 90's, ugly blue, red, gold, orange swatches and patch

LOL, Shutt cards are always funny to see with the wierd swatches. I hate event stuff. HHOF Game Jerseys are annoying but sometimes the only option. I wouldn't mind photo shoot as much if they didn't sew on all those BS patches everywhere.

Speaking of Steve Shutt. I have two GU cards of him where the swatch is green, a San Jose Sharks Green. Can I tell you how the swatch looks horrible near a picture of Shutt in a Habs uniform...
    I collect the following:
    - Vintage (Stars and RC)
    - 2010-11 ITG Decades (Auto, GU, bases)
    - Stars from the 1980s (in modern sets)
    - Montreal Canadians Legends (bases, inserts, parallels, #, RC, Auto, GU)
    - Montreal Canadiens actual players (inserts, parallels, #, RC, Auto, GU)

If they're going to get rid of them then one of two things have to happen:

    - Limit the use of GU cards to high end product only
    - Just get rid of GU cards all together

There is no way that the manufacturers can make an actual Game Used card of all of these players, in all of these products, and continue to sell them at the same price point they do now.
