    keeping unopened packs

the other day i was buying a few packs at walmart. the lady checking me out asked me if i collect. of course i said yes and she went on to tell me how her ex husband collected. next she asked me if i kept the packs sealed. I have been collecting for around 15 years. when i said that i opened the packs the checker said that her ex never opened the packs.
I have never heard of this. Anyone do this?
The fun part of collecting for me has always been opening the packs. I just found this strange

    Depends on the series.

I've seen a lot of people keep (and grade) unoppened packs.

In 10, 20 years, if there is a hot shot rookie in it, you might turn it for a really good profit.

But that's in the LONNNNNNNNNNG run.

I have seen alot of people not open packs. For whatever reason, I havent the slightest clue. Ocassionally, if I hit all the relics and AUs that are supposed to come in a box, I will leave a pack unopened but will go back at a later date to open it.
