Road Trip = Team Bonding Time
http://www.montrealgazette.com/sport...126/story.html
There was a time when the Canadiens dreaded going on the road around Christmas.
You didn't hear too many ho-ho-hos in the years after the lockout as the Canadiens went 1-4 in 2005, 1-3 in '06 and a semi-respectable 3-1-2 in '07.
But, as the Canadiens prepare to launch a seven-game road swing tomorrow night in Denver, they can take some pride in their recent holiday accomplishments. Montreal went 5-1-1 in '08, and a 6-1 record last December pushed the Canadiens above .500, where they stayed for the remainder of the season.
"You have to realize the importance of playing seven games on the road," said defenceman Josh Gorges, who is one of the few players to have experienced the good and the bad of the holiday trips. "It's an opportunity for the guys to focus on hockey. There are no other distractions. You come together on the road and, with the tight-knit group we have, we're better for it."
Also of note: Carey gets the next three games, and probably 3 of the 4 game after the Christmas holiday.
