Today, you can only see the past two weeks active thread. This was done to give all their most recent thread. We still have some thread to remove before we can extend the period of your post. It should probably be increase on a daily basis as we have post we need to move before we extend the period visible by members. once we extend the visible period you will all start seing more thread until you see them all. All the trhead you have started are in this forum. I just look in the database and you have 290 threads exactly in that mass forum we created. They will show as we raise the number of weeks you can see.

Looks like the "Quick Links" was part of what was moved or affected (since threads were affected I guess links to them would have been messed up).
It looks like a slight site redesign is also in the works. The Main page header looks slightly different.
Kudos to the site team who are working on fixing the threads moving goof. It is good to know the site can still be accessed while a major problem like that is being fixed. Some sites shut down completely while they fix bugs.

First as stated several times-there was no hack, Only an error.
Second if we had gone to a backup a large number of posts would have been lost. Almost a days worth of posting. We are continuing work on restoring a large number of posts. Please be patient.

I am the persom along with the owner that manage the mistake made by a mod. By Monday morning, when we both realize the extent of what had happened the daily backup had occured along with the weekly back up that also occur on every monday morning. The only viable back up was the monthly back up. This would have mean losing many weeks of trade and data. This was not a acceptable solution.
The issue was that a moderator use a mass bulk move function using date from and to and selected all forums. This is why all non sticky ended up in one forum. Either we would have lost 20 days of data or lose none but have to move the thread back.
I could have sit down on the phone and order the host to revert to the monthly back up, let the moderator of the site have no extra work and explain to member that all their trade in the past 3 weeks are lost.
The decision was realllu obvious. If I can save the member data and even if it mean a lot of work, I prefer to choose the extra work and go a extra mile to save the members data.
The industry standards are daily, weekly and monthly back up and this is what we have. If we do a major maintenance that require a back up prior, we do it. Sunday night mistake was made just before the weekly back and this is why both daily and weekly back were not viable.
Now that you know the fact, what would you, who seem to know so much, what would you have done...

Also the mistake the mod was something he should not have done. Mod archive thread and we ask them to use only the front end function on each page to do it. The mod went in the modcp and used a bulk move function that he is not authorise to use. That mod is not even able to make a backup. very few person can. Only Harry do planned maintenance on the forum and always make his back up. so please you can ask question but don't interpret answer not given to you.Last edited by CoolHandLuke; 12-21-2010 at 12:12 PM.

Many thanks for all the hard word, mods (and management)! It's appreciated!
I'm always looking to trade cards for original Nintendo (NES) games. Always looking for 86-87 Fleer basketball - even commons - the more, the better :) Also, when sending cards out, please make certain the cards are well-protected and well-packaged.

X2.
Being a System Administrator I know what it’s like when no one ever appreciates all the hard work you do in keeping the forums up and running on a daily bases. As soon as something goes down…someone always finds a reason to complain.

We do appreciate the nice comments and will review the negative ones to see if we can improve on communication and techniques in the future.
