    Best card found amongst commons?

So I have been pricing some of my game used cards with the recent Beckett. I hadn't priced them in some time. So I am looking thru and notice a pic of a card I know I have. And it turns out to be worth some $. Keep in mind I have all my cards sorted by team, nothing by set because I have way too many to sit here and sort them that way.

This was pretty much a gem among the rubble to me and I knew I had it. Whats your best pull out of a random lot? Gonna start going thru and looking more closely and stuff that may look worth something.
Mine so far was an 05-06 UD Rookie Showcase Henrik Lundqvist RS-20. Books for $60!

Maybe about 4 2000 Skybox Dominion Tom Brady rookies....couldn't sell them for .50 at a rummage sale a few years ago! Needless to say they went sittin by the dock of the eBay shortly after that!

I worked at a card shop in 2000.

The owner busted a lot of wax and I recall all the various Tom Bradys he had accumulated.

Yes- there were plenty in abundance and at the time no one wanted them of course.

After having to close shop within a year, he got rid of them with a bunch of the other stuff, and still Brady was unheard of.

    Good thread by the way.

Personally I don't have a moving story to pass along as of yet.

My best common find is also a Tom Brady. I keep all my RC's i get, and go through them every other year or so. After Brady's 2nd SB win, i went through my common Rookies and found a Bowman Chrome Brady RC. Was very excited to say the least! The card is in my Sig.

I am also Tom Brady - 2000 Bowman. I collected the 2000 Bowman football set in 2000 and early 2001. I got 3 Tom Brady's but the other two went in the with the other common rookies. When he won the SBs I was looking at the them again...and found the other two (one was in the complete set). They had been sitting there for about 5 years in a box of commons and other low end rookies. It was a nice find because I was able to trade them for some great cards I wanted and I still have one in my 2000 Bowman Set.

I stopped collecting cards in the 90's.. I just recently got backinto the hobby with my 8yr old son. I went looking through some old "commons" I had and found a Frvre rookie. Not worth a bundle but better than nothing.

BV of $60 is nice, but BV means nothing, especially for hockey cards a few years old. You could probably sell the Lundqvist for $5-10 though.
