Devils Put Rolston on Waivers Again, Assign to AHL
http://tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=347095
The New Jersey Devils sent forward Brian Rolston to Albany of the AHL on Tuesday in a move that likely paves the way for the veteran to be placed on re-entry waivers later this week.
Rolston, 37, was originally placed on regular waivers on Dec. 14. He cleared the next day and was kept on New Jersey's roster, where he played five more games for the Devils and registered one assist. For the season, Rolston totalled two goals and three assists in 20 games.
Should Rolston be placed on re-entry waivers, he can be claimed by any club for half his salary and half his salary cap hit. The Devils will be responsible for the other half of his contract.
According to TSN Hockey Insider Bob McKenzie, the Devils are hoping that Rolston gets claimed in order to save themselves some salary cap space.
Rolston has two years left on his contract with an annual cap hit of $5.062 million.
