Hello Everyone,

I am excited to have stumbled across this forum because this is exactly what I've been looking for. I have recently gotton back into collecting cards after a 20 year break. Here's the short version of my story: I started collecting cards when I was 9 years old. By the time I was 16 I had 40,000 cards and was setting up at card shows. One day at a card show I had a very expensive Nolan Ryan card stolen from me. It was a mess. The police even got involved. I knew who stole it but couldn't prove it, and of course, nothing could be done about it. This was a tremendous blow of discouragement for a 16 year old. So, I quit. I sold off everything I had for next to nothing and left the hobby. Then last Christmas my daughter bought me a pack of cards for a gift. I hadn't thought twice about cards in 20 years (I'm 36 years old now). But that little gift rejuvenated my old interest. In the last 12 months, I've accummulated about 15,000 cards, and even have my wife into it with me.

When I left the hobby, it was only Topps, Fleer, and Donruss. All of these subsets and stuff didn't exist, so I'm having a hard time keeping up with those, but I'm trying to learn. As my name implies, I like the Vintage cards, but I'm liking the new stuff, too. We just finished hand collating a 2010 Topps base set, and now I'm working on the 2010 update series. I need a lot of those. When I learn my way around this forum and learn how to trade, I'm sure some of you will be hearing from me.

Well, sorry for the long intro, but I am excited to be here and I hope to get to know many of you very soon.

Thanks. My wife has been great in helping. I guess my collection is really "our" collection. She bought my a 1978 Topps baseball set for my birthday in October, and she gave my the 79 set for Christmas last week. I love those old cards.

Thanks, Ravens Creed. I did read over the site rules last night, but I'm sure I'll have to refer to them and review them often until everything sinks in. It seems like a lot to process.....learning how to trade and manage my cards and all....but I'm excited about learning and getting to know folks.
