Best of the best
Well, to be dead honest, it has been 18+ years since I collected cards. Very avid Hockey, Baseball and College Football fan, just not into the scene of card collecting since its hayday in the late 80s and early 90s.
The real reason I am here is research and to contribute in a little different way. You guys are the best of the best when it comes to collecting, and I wanted to pick your brains a bit.
With some upcoming major life and lifestyle changes, I have really started to adapt my life to that of a minimalist. Getting rid of what I do not need, keeping what I do, and concentrating on what is important to me.
With that being said, I embarked on a project to clean out the clutter. Phase 1 was getting my blog up and going. Phase 2, document and start Operation: Consolidation. That began with a thorough cleaning of my attic and garage, and breaking everything into piles for DONATE, SELL and KEEP. So far, my wife and I have consolidated from around 30-35 boxes, down to around 5. We have 9 boxes and bags that are being donated, and another pile of 10-12 boxes to be sold.
We are selling some big ticket items, such as a few ATVs, a Treadmill, etc. Also looking to sell my baseball card collection from the late 80s/early 90s as well as my Star Wars Memorabilia collection.
I have done some research at the Beckett Guide forum, so I have a certain expectation, but will be doing more research on here too.
Ultimately would love to sell the collection to a local hobbyist, rather than donating it to GoodWill or Salvation Army, as I do have SOME cards of some value, but not much.
Anyhow, nice, LOOOONG first post, right?
If anyone is interested in seeing my blog or my consolidation efforts, my blog can be found at http://www.justinhamlin.com
