I was looking at old boxes to check out and started thinking about my favorite base and insert sets ever.

My favorite base set has to be 1996 SPx. I only own about 60% of it, but I am thinking about picking up a box and then getting singles of whatever the box doesn't yield. This is one set where I don't even mind duplicates.

As far as inserts go, i would say 93-94 Finest Refractors if parallels count. I think they are some of the best looking cards of all time.

If parallels don't count, 97-98 Topps Rock Stars might be my favorite - with, of course, the Rock Stars Refractors being even better. They were, I believe, supposed to fall 1 per box. I remember getting a box for christmas, though, that yielded a Juwon Howard, MICHAEL JORDAN, and Pippen REFRACTOR. I have pulled more valuable cards before probably, but still consider that the finest box break I've ever had.
