    Stamps on RTS envelopes

Just wanted to see what you folks do with the stamps on your SASE when you get cards RTS to you? Do you remove them from the envelope? if so how, without ripping it to shreds? Toss them out & dont re-use them?

I dont have a lot of RTS, un-used stamps but the ones i do re-use, i usually just cut along the stamp & super glue them to a different envelope.

Just wanted to see what others might be doing.

also, with my re-used stamps, i always try to use them for sure thing TTM's. I Use most of them for Peyton, petty, Bednarik think one might have went to Dumars also..

I very carefully rip them off of the old envelope and put them on the new one with tape. When I say with tape, I mean that I cover the entire stamp with a layer of tape - hasn't failed me yet.

    ^^^Me too.
I get almost as happy when I see unused stamps then when I see some TTM's :p
Most of the time, I rip 'em off, and tape them vigorously. Works every time.

I work at the PO and I can tell you that it is a bad idea covering stamps with tape. The canceling machines will not detect a valid stamp and cause it to reject. This shouldn't stop it from being delivered since it is an unused stamp, but it takes it out of the normal mail stream which increases the chance of it being delayed. I would advise gluing the stamp on the new envelope instead.

i had a few that were RTS'ed to me because i taped over the stamp...with a pen, they crossed out the stamps thereby "canceling" it
i was pretty mad and wrote an email to canada post about it, because they were 'unused', but that didnt matter...
could be a difference between the USPS and Canada Post though

Look at it as another reason to not tape over a stamp.

well, yeah...i havent taped over them since...im just saying that you stated it would still go through as its deemed 'unused' but that wasnt the case for me
now i just glue them down

It's illegal to put tape over stamps, FYI- a mailman told me as much, because their postmark stamper thingy is supposed to go on the stamp itself to prevent re-use.

Riggs, glad to see that you freely criticize me for just trying to get autographs and for not saying thank you, but you think nothing of defrauding the US Government.

this isnt a rip in anyway, but theres actually a law stating "thou shalt not tape over stamps?"
ok clearly not written that way, but you get what im asking...that seems a little.....out there to me
i can see that it would be against policy or procedure, but against the law?
