Will Fleer going out of business have an effect on the value of their cards?

That's funny how when I said that Fleer was going out of business on Saturday that I was just some loser that was looking to start a bad rumor but now that it's official, everyone is worried how their crap will drop... Fleer was as popular as a route canal so I don't see it dropping for now until a big wholesaler gets a hold of the key to the 'back door' then the bottom will probably fall out... My prediction is In The Game (Hockey) will go out of business next...

If your referring to what I said about some loser starting rumors I wasnt referring to you, I was referring to whoever told you that because at the time nobody was reporting on it so it seemed unlikely. Apparently i was wrong and Im man enough to admit it, sorry you took it so personal hope theres no hard feelings.

Seems as though there are enough people that still like Fleer designs to keep people buying them. Fact of the matter is nobodys cards are jumping up in huge value, so you shouldnt be worried about Fleer cards...you should be worried about all cards. The business is on a down swing. I think in the next few years things will pick back up, and values will go back up.

I'd say no.

The cards (with the exception of the redemptions) don't rely on Fleer being in business at all; there's no warranty/maintenance issues or updates/subscriptions that Fleer customer service needs to be around and (again with the exception of the redemptions) the collector need not interact with Fleer ever again after becoming a card owner.

The best example I can think of is: Are Honus Wagner cards hurt because the tobacco company that made them is no longer in business?

i am not the biggest collector or anything but it surprises me that fleer would go out of buisness before alot of the others. fleer has always been right behind topps as the leader in the industry to me. when fleer goes out of buisness, i would keep an eye out for others to as well. but, then again i don't know much about the industry these days.

Someone feel free to enlighten me on this if I'm wrong...Pinnacle/Score has been out of business since at least 1998, and most of their cards are not all that valuable. They may actually be cheaper than when they first came out.
