    Time For a Rant

Just watched the Element box break on beckett. And guess what to no one's great surprise there are 6 freaking parallel levels (base, black, green, purple, preview, and red) are we serious Press Pass? This is going too far-and it also is driving down the hobby-these are supposed to be hits in the boxes-but since there are so many parallels to choose from the market is watered down-with 2011 Press Pass people were winning blues/10 for under 4 dollars (I won 2). Those should be at least 10 to 15 dollar cards and would be if they were the only parallel. Parallel cards are not creative-they are not different-they are the same card with a different treatment-it is boring and aggrevating. As a driver collector I am going to go crazy-if your driver has 5 cards in the set thats 30 or so cards to try and get for just the base set cards-theres no way on earth-and no it is not fun to chase-fun to chase is sets with one super hard to get parallels like the winning tickets (where the SPs at one a box mean something) cup chase (one a box) or by the numbers (where there were very hard pulls needed to finish the set) (and their ebay prices reflect this-people pay good money for these cards)

Parallels used to be fun and exciting-in the mid 90s a Press Pass Cup Chase parallel or a VIP emerald proof was the best-then the blue/red thing started-and now we got fruity pebbles-its assinine and annoying. For those who disagree with me and think its fun to chase them all your welcome to that opinion-but I disagree. I want the parallel to mean something, to have some importance, and to show some originality-not be used as a filler to ensure everyone pulls something nice-thats not the meaning.

I agree with you man. As a player collector parallels are too much these days. I could see maybe one but like 30? It's ridiculous. Panini is crazy with parallels too. Good thing my player doesn't have cards made these days.

It is kind of ironic how I just wrote an article on this: https://www.sportscardforum.com/artic...um+Articles%29

a brilliant read and oh so true-the problem is the collectors are catching on to them and sooner or later itll bite em when the people stop buying or treating the cards as "valuable and rare" they will be left to the hardcore few with enough money left to play rainbow roulette

You should try baseball.... There are a few sets where each player has close toa hundred parallels... Only difference in the numbering... There is another set that has a different pattern on the front and there are like 90 paralells of that one... It is ridiculous and impossible to make much headway of a player collection unless they played exclusively before 1996 or so
