Personalized?
OK, What is your thoughts on personalized autographs? I have a good number of them in my collection and they are some of my favorites, but it would make them worth less when my kids, grandkids or greatgrandkids sell my collection. I ask alot of times for the personalization, do you guys perfer yours personalized?

I like/prefer it. I usually only get graphs of people I like, so the personalization of the autograph makes it more valuable to me.

I don't like personalizations and not because I sell autos. I don't like them because I plan on keeping them and handing most of the collection down and with my name on it, it kind of stinks

i would rather not have them personalized because in my opinion it just looks better. and if it is on a card they usually personalize over their faces. If someone does personalize it i remove it with axe.

It depends on the player and item for me.
Generally, cards I'd prefer they aren't just because it becomes too much writing on the card and can ruin the look, but there's guys (Laurinaitis, Eric Decker, George Blanda) that I've gotten and they personalized and it fits and looks nice. 8x10s, it's 50/50 for me. If it's a HOF'er, or tougher sig to get, I prefer it not to be, and it looks nicer framed up in a man cave.. But if it's a smaller name guy, or a guy I have multiple sigs from, then I prefer it most times. Basically, personalized feels more special, reminding you that the player signed it for you, and not something you picked up on eBay.. But as stated, you sacrifice display appeal, and if you plan on handing things down.
I try not to complain if something is personalized that I didn't want to be, because well.. Not every athlete takes time out of his day for fans, I can't be taking it for granted like it's a service.Last edited by REDANDGOLDPRIDE; 01-19-2011 at 05:23 PM.

I don't really mind one way or another. On cards, I tend to prefer them to not be personalized, but I really don't mind. I actually like personalization & inscriptions on index cards; makes them more interesting.

I like them sometimes, but understand why they are done so I don't sweat it when I get one. They are very easy to remove with a dry erase marker though...

How is this done?

I think you scribble it over the personalization/inscription on a photo with the dry erase marker then when you wipe to clear it off it comes off pretty easily
