    Searchable Player Inventory

Thank you SCF. I LOVE the ability to generate a list of cards for a specific player using the new inventory program. Using this feature it is a very simple way to generate a checklist for player collectors. I noticed that I can download a list of the cards in my inventory, but do not see an option for downloading search results.

Are there any plans to make search results downloadable as a CSV, TAB or XML file?

Thanks again and keep up the great work!

This option already exists. When you're at your inventory search list page there's an option entitled "Backup your inventory" - clicking this will allow you to make a CSV file

No plan to have specific query export and for a good reason. While it's free to use it, our goal is not to make tools so any one can grab the data we work hard to enter and build their own inventory.for this reason, there will not be easy way like this to pull cards by making query other then how we already do it, page by page. What we will do, is make it easy for you to enter them and use our site to manage your inventory.Yill have ton of feature on the server with pagination but no tools to just retreive mass data in CSV format. That would go against the spirit of the project that is to have you use our inventory here on our site.

So the backup feature will stay but no plan to do any other type of export, we want to preserve our work for our member using our application here on our site. Free does not mean you get the whole deal.

Hope you undestand that while it would be easy to code, it not to our advantage to let you query any thing and grad thoushand of data with no effort and at our server time and expense. The query are made to query very little record at one time and this for a performance reason. The only exception is the back up tools and this is to assure you can secure all the work you do here entering cards. You can always bring it to a show in excell and search it. So this is already a great feature we accepted to code and this was to secure our user so they can always grab a copy and are not prisonner of our application. But we are not doing it so person grab data and do their things else where. this is why query with pagination will remain the only option. But once we link all cards with a player index then all query will execute under one second and will also be much faster to navigatre the pages.

That is a perfectly reasonable approach. Thanks for the hard work everyone at SCF does, it is very much appreciated. You make an excellent point about wanting to keep control of the data as it is a free site and alot of work goes into designing, updating, and maintaining it (not to mention cominug up with new features like the Inventory).

After reading your response I have decided that I have greatly benefited from the hard work of everyone at SCF and am going to contribute to the ongoing effort. I am signing up for a paid membership and encourage everyone else who uses this site to do so also. When you think about it $20 is a small donation when compared to all the information, answers, contacts and benefit we get from SCF every day!
