Would this be a classless move?

I just want your opinion as I am still up in the air.
I have the famous chuck bednarik photo of him looking over Frank Gifford. I was thinking about sending this photo to gifford as well as bednarik to get signed. I dont want to offend Mr. Gifford in any way, but I think it would be neat to have that photo to be a dual signed piece. I have yet to find that photo dual signed anywhere.

Do you think I should send it to Gifford to get signed or no?

    Thanks for your input.

Classless? Probably not. In poor taste? Absolutely. I had the same thought you did when I got my Bednarik pic back but thought better of it. Gifford had a MAJOR concussion after that hit. He took a year off, as a matter of fact. I would advise against it. If you want a Gifford, send him another 8x10.

I'm sure you wouldn't be the first to ask him to sign that picture and to be honest, he may not turn you down. However, a quick search of eBay didn't turn up any photos signed by both of them.

On a side note, it makes me sick that people are sending Bednarik photos and then selling them on eBay. I sent him two requests, the first one was damaged in shipping. He signed my second but I received a form letter from his wife saying they would begin charging for any add'l autos because so many people were selling them. I actually took the time to write him a thank you note and sent the original, damaged picture back to him to show my gratitude and assure them that they weren't being taken by me. They sent me a letter in return, it was pretty cool.

It would be a cool item to have signed by both. I do not think that it would be classless. That is unless that is the moment that ended his playing days? I for instance would never send a photo to Joe Thiesmann of that moment where LT sacked him and ended his days as an quarterback!

Right, Thats what I was thinking, it did take him out of the game for a year. I would almost feel bad for sending it, but I think it would be a neat item to have signed, you know? And Bednarik adds the inscriptions to this picture in good fun (I believe). I dont think Gifford takes offense to what Bednarik writes on the pic. I would never sell this piece, I just think it would be cool to have for my collection.

I totally agree with you. I hate when people take advantage of a good situation. He is signing out of the goodness of his heart, and being taken advantage of. Thats what hurts the hobby and makes good signers stop signing. I never plan on selling my autographs. I love to collect and display.

Didn't think you'd sell; just went off on a tangent.

Hahaha, I understand. Hopefully he understands that there are true collectors out there.

Frank Gifford will not sign this photo, even with the $35 fee. Several SCN members have tried over the years with no luck.

    Guess that ends the discussion.

Thanks for the info, I always wondered about that.
