Question for Canadian's or anyone else that can help me out

I have a question about postal mail. When you mail a package signature required, Insured, and tracking #'er from Canada to the US. (Someone is sending me a package from Canada, I live in the US) Will I be able to tell the total cost for the seller for S/H, signature required, Insurance, and tracking #'er? I am getting charged a lot. I want to make sure I'm not getting ripped off.

Yes, there should be a sticker on the package with the amount he paid.

Silly question: The sticker, isn't that just how much he paid for Shipping only?

yes, the sticker price on the label is what he paid for postage. Sometimes you have to pay a customs fee, which is not charged by the seller but Canadian custom's. It's basically a duty fee or tax. They usually only charge it on higher valued items.

The sticker will tell you what your seller paid to ship the package to you, including shipping, tracking, insurance, signature or whatever else he applied to the parcel.
So if you paid, let's say $5 shipping and the sticker says $5 - you're good. However if you paid $5 and the sticker only says $1 - he overcharged.

The reason it is so expensive to ship from Canada to USA is we still use poney express to deliver stuff. Just kidding.

Well they charged me $5.00 for S/H then $13.00 for Insurance. I questioned them and they said they do Insurance, signature required, and tracking. I won 2 cards that only totaled $51.06.

I hope to get the package by next week to see exactly what it says.

I would imagine you're probably being charged around $30?? If so that is definitely what it costs (or thereabouts) to ship with all that internationally. It's a gigantic rip off in my opinion, but needs to be done.

Registered to the US is ~$15 and that includes $60 (I think) insurance, sig, and tracking. Add on a dollar or so for supplies and that's not too far off.

Yea, well said. It would be closer to $30 if it required more insurance, which luckily yours does not.
