Hi all,
So recently ii have started collecting again, and to be honest it is wayyyyy different from when I was younger. I lost all my cards from when I was a kid(which is a major ™™™™-off) but bought a lot of cards from the auctions. So, I rediscovered this amazing hobby....Anyways, if anyone has any hints tips good product bad product help for me that would be greatly appreciated....
Thanks,
John

Welcome to the site!
Everyone is different, but I usually will look at photos of a product and review the checklist, and that will usually determine if its something I want to collect. So far this year there has been some great products from all 3 major players in hockey. My favorites this year from each manufacturer has been Certified (Panini), SP Game Used (Upper Deck), and Ultimate Memorabilia 10 (In The Game).

Welcome aboard! Always nice to see new members signing up.
"What's good" is a really hard question to answer, becuase there are so many different right ones. How much you're looking to spend, and what you want to collect really change how I (or anyone) would answer it.
You into set building? Game Used cards? Rookies? Autographs? Lots of different products, depending on your interests.

Thanks all for the replies....I went and spent about 150 on victory retail like an idiot and then a box of artifacts retail....Like i explained its been years since colllecting and even when I did when I was young it was more for the wow factor of getting the cheap pro set type sets and your fav.player.....So I now know that there is a diff. netweem hobby and retail after wasting around 200-250....Iam looking for some product around the artifacts price range and I will buy hobby boxes until I collect the whole base set and move on to a new product....I dont want to spend to much time on one set unless its design and value blows me away....I like the variety that artifacts is offering and will probably pick up another two or three hobby boxes then move on....I have yet to have that wow factor with a set so maybe in the future I would just focus on that....sorry lotsa ramble its 645 am and Iam getting ready for work....take care all

Best words of advice would be to do what you want to do. We are all unique on this site and that is what makes our hobby so great. What is one persons trash is another persons treasure. If you are going to buy boxes I would strongly suggest hobby as well.
Welcome to the site and have fun.

I did the EXACT same thing. Bought maybe 10 blasters before I found out "oh, the good cards are rarely in these".
Best advice I can give is to use this site (and others like it) as a great resource. Ask questions, talk to people.
Unlike in the rest of the world, jerky collectors are the exception, not the rule. For the most part, you'll find a lot of great people.
GOOD LUCK!
