Two Blown Offside Calls Result in Goals

Last night in two different games the officials blew the call at the blue line. The play went on. In both cases, a goal was scored.

In the Pittsburgh game, which ended 3-2, that goal was the difference. It happened on the game winning goal. Watch the replay. Cooke was clearly offside.

In the Vancouver game, which ended 4-3, that goal was the difference.

Anybody else expect to see the calls for the coach's challenge to start up again?

I didn't see either of these plays, but I think a chellenge system would be a good idea. I don't recall how it worked before, but I think each team should start the game with one challenge and if the coach is deemed to be right when challenging the play, the team keeps their challenge and if the coach was wrong upon review, they lose it.

I get a sense that it may become a reality in the not-too-distant future. There are just way too many incorrect judgment calls being made out on the ice that are affecting outcomes.
