Went to my forst storage facility auction yesterday

Kind of interesting to go through the process even though I didn't buy anything. My friend bought two so I helped him empty them after we went to all of the auctions. Definitely some characters at these and a lot of people showed up because of the TV shows on about these sort of auctions. The regulars said up until about a month ago there would be only about 15-20 people. The first place we went to yesterday had over 100 people easy.

nothing really special. it was actually very well organized. There was a lawn mower and two kids bikes and that's why he bid on it. There was a matress and box springs that we didn't see until we went back to pick up the goods. that was a pain to have to try to stuff in his minivan so we could take it to the dumpster.

Nothing wrong with this at all...a deduction is a deduction. To bad I think the IRS changed it where you can only write off up to $500 unless you have a picture of the item.

I don't think Goodwill takes mattresses, but yes the rest of the stuff he'll put in his annual garage sale then probably goodwill from there.

yes $500 if the limit before you have to itemize it and do a lot of extra paper work.

Hey Mark, do you think the lots were valued at a fair price? Or do you think they were actually sold below normal cost!

I'd guess they were pretty fairly priced. Most of them went in the $150-$250 range. I'm not sure if the TV show has caused them to go for higher amounts.
