Kings Blog Writer Ranks 28 NHL cities, not teams.
LA Kings Insider Writer Rich Hammond ranked the 28 NHL cities he has visited.
The last one on the list is really no surprise. Great hockey, terrible city.
Fun read, here it is:

It is not a terrible city at all. Where the Joe is located isn't the least bit "unsafe." Travel 3 miles or so out of the city, well your car may be jacked and you might die, but as for the actual city it's actually not too bad.

This. It's not like The Joe is in Highland Park or anything. I've never felt the least bit unsafe going to The Joe, Ford Field, Comerica Park, Greektown, Fox/Fillmore Theatres, St. Andrews Music Hall(right above "The Shelter") or any other major attraction downtown and I see no reason as to why any visiting hockey fan should either, that is unless you want to take a drive up Woodward or something...Last edited by afholmes87; 02-10-2011 at 06:22 PM.

I think you kind of have to rule out the top 3 since like he said he is admittedly biased because he has a good friend living there or its close to where he is now :P

He's right about Calgary. I lived there for 7 months and I miss it every day. Beautiful city and some of the nicest people you will meet anywhere.
Also, he's not wrong about Vancouver either. It's still a great city, but it has gone a little downhill in the last 10-15 years. I thik it's just gotten too big for its own good.

Like others have said, it was an interesting read. Had he enjoyed Ottawa a little bit more, he might have seen the sign for Kanata where the Sens play but somehow he ended up in Kenata
. I have to agree though, the arena is out in a field on the edge of Kanata. For anybody going, be sure to take a drive downtown and it's hard to leave. Ottawa is such a beautiful city all over and not just downtown.

I do wonder this. I have only been to games at the Joe and the United Center. I've always wanted to go on a road game for the Wings (other than Chi, CBJ, STL). Where would be the best atmosphere. I'd have to rule out Canada as I'm looking for it to be a sort of "road trip" in the US. Any suggestions?
