From a few searches, I'm getting the feeling that the NHL lockout sent them packing.

Darn... since I can't afford the Higher price product I really liked their product..
2 great features-- Quality & Affordability!!

Pacific gave up on NFL (and MLB i believe) in 2002 and went to just NHL and CFL. So they never shut down before... just dropped a couple sports.

Hey dudes, new to the forum.
Pacific is about two-three miles from where I grew up and they are definitely closed. They actually had a huge warehouse sale (I missed it) sometime last year.

It's really lame and sad because that's the first "card shop" I ever heard of and we used to ride our bikes down there to just hang out with the cards. We'd only have a couple bucks to spend, but just being able to check out all their cards was fun.

Funny story, when I was younger they used to sell wax boxes of cards, including the 80-81 basketball cards with the Bird/Magic rookie card for about $6 a pop. I've got three of those cards (still intact) and about 15 other Bird singles (breaks my heart looking at them). Talk about not having any foresight into the potential value of that set/card. Yeah, me for tearing them apart and Pacific for selling those boxes for so cheap. Hey, I'm not complaining, though.

Here's an article I stumbled across to post: Donruss Acquires Pacific

Baseball was done in 2001, not 2002.
