Kings score four unanswered goals to top Caps

WASHINGTON (AP) - Andrei Loktionov scored the tiebreaking goal at 3:36 of the third period, and the Los Angeles Kings beat the punchless Washington Capitals 4-1 Saturday to extend their point streak to a season-high eight games.

Michal Handzus and Jarret Stoll also scored in the third period for the Kings, whose 6-0-2 run is their longest since a nine-game streak from Jan. 21-Feb. 6, 2010.

Los Angeles is 3-0-2 at the midpoint of a franchise-record, 10-game road trip.

Jonathan Bernier had 22 saves for the Kings after allowing a goal to Alex Ovechkin on the first shot of the game. Bernier, the backup to Jonathan Quick, has not yielded more than two goals in four starts.

    Kings confuse me this season....

Oct - 10-2-1 - One of the best in franchise history and start out 8-0-0 at home - best in history
Nov - 5-7-0 - Average but considering Oct, Meh
Dec - 9-4-1 - One of the best in franchise history
Jan - 4-0-9 - One of the worst in franchise history
    Feb - 3-0-2 - Currently have points in 8 straight (6-0-2)

They still have 5 more games on this Looooooooooong road trip.....with Philly tomorrow...and Quick in net as Bernier took out the Caps

Typical inconsistency you come to expect of young teams. See the Avalanche from last season, who went through a lot of the same ups and downs over the course of their season.

That the Kings are capable of rattling off long runs of solid two-way hockey bodes well not only for the playoff push, but for the possibility of a lengthy run once they get in.
