Quick Ebay etiquette question
I had someone win an auction on February 2nd. I waited nine days for payment, at which point I emailed the buyer to ask about their plan to pay. I have not received a response.
Should I now file a non-paying bidder claim, or give the buyer more time? I'm not a frequent seller, and this is my first time running into the problem. As a buyer who pays immediately after winning auctions, I find it frustrating.

9 days is far to long, most sellers expect it within 3-7 days. I would file the claim and relist it or sell it to the next highest bidder.

Yep, file an NPB. No communication, over a week are red flags.

Why don't buyers pay the instant they win? I can see if they are waiting on another auction to combine shipping or waiting on a transfer to their pay pal account. Other than that, wouldn't be nice if buyers paid instantly.
Besides, the faster you pay the faster you get your card, lol.

eBay rules state that communication is supposed to have taken place within 3 days of the end of auction.
If you have communicated twice in that time, then your job is done. Do you have payment parameters in place on your auction/sale thread itself?
I always state that payment must be made within one week. Just file an NPB.

No, and I've definitely learned to make sure that I do that next time. It makes sense.
I will file it and see what happens - thanks to everyone for the comments and help.

As stated by everyone above... just file the NPB warning. The NPB is still a process, and takes roughly a week before any action can be taken place. So the sooner you get this process going the quicker youll get a resolution.
And honestly its an epidemic on ebay right now, i listed roughly 70 auctions 2 weeks ago, and today 7 of them are yet to pay!! Its getting pretty ridiculous if you ask me

I will say I am not always around when an auction ends, especially on weekends. A lot of times I don't pay until Monday morning... but that is a maximum of 60 hours... any longer than 3 days with no communication and I would file the NPB.

I'm the same way. My weekends are usually fairly busy. I won an auction on a Friday, was out of town, I think it was something like $0.99+$3.50 for shipping, the seller filed a NPB on that Sunday morning and no where in the listing did he have a payment due by X. I've been seeing it swing this way a lot, and I have 100% feedback on ebay...
