Chicago area members, I need your help!
Hello all, not sure this is the right spot for this but worth a shot.
I am already planning my trip to the national this year, but know nothing about the Chicago area. I'm thinking about taking the train in, but from there, I'm wondering where is a good place to stay in the area, where is a good bar scene (doesn't have to be downtown), what's the easiest way to get around, ect...
I'm thinking about staying near the convention center, but doesn't seem to be a whole lot there besides the convention center. Since we will be there for 2+ days, don't want to be too far away from the action. ANY insight on the Chicago area would be greatly appreciative. Thanks again!

Joe's Bar on Weed St. is a good place to go and hang out. It's 35-40 mins from Rosemont.. its a hot spot downtown. And if you get a chance, dine in at Gibson Steak House across the street from the Rosemont center.. top quality food

You can always take the CTA Blue Line train from the city to Rosemont or vice versa and catch a pace bus to the center. Also if your looking for a bar scene Rush St in Chicago is lined up with them.

Whenever we go to Chicago we always stay in Deerfield on the North side... There are a couple hotels there with great rates (compared to downtown) and easily assesible to anywhere you need to go. There is also a great steakhouse right by the hotels and it is far enough north it is an easy shot to the outlet malls in Gurnee for the women to go down there.
