Guess the Flyers think he'll enchance their chances of winning a cup, and don't think the 29th or 30th overall pick will turn out to be much?

I agree - Philly has great depth...... but this just adds one more better player to the mix. (i.e. Is Versteeg not an upgrade on Nodl??)

Covers you in case of injury too.

Another win for Toronto. Got Versteeg for Stalberg pretty much, and then parlayed that to a first-rounder AND a third-round. Where are the Burke haters now, eh?

Well, there's still something to be said for assembling a near last place team, trading away your next two first round picks, and acting surprised when a roster that was obviously going to be bad..... didn't do so well :)

I will admit though - I've thought that every trade he made since the Kessel deal has been a good one.

Whoa, there, Leafies ... let's see how the picks pan out before we applaud the deal. It's always hilarious to see people instantly judge a deal where one of the teams ends up with a package principally built around draft picks. "WOO HOO! We won the right to choose players who may or may not ever amount to anything!"

It could wind up being the best trade in Leafs history. Or it could land them the second coming of Luca Cereda. Time will tell.

I'm kind of dissapointed to see Versteeg go and not get an actual player we could use in return. Sure I like that we got a 1st and a 3rd for him, but a trade like this could be a sign that the Leafs are throwing in the towel on the season. However, they could use that 1st as bait for another trade.... who knows?
