    New Blog

    Hello,

I started a new blog a couple of weeks back. I have been running an online card store the past year and thought it might me interest to provide some insight as to what it's like and what's involved in running the store.

In addition, I have a 12 year old son and I want to share some of the experiences I've had getting him involved in collecting sports cards and what the hobby is like through his eyes.

Finally, I'll throw in some of my own personal memories like the Jim Leyland story I just posted.

Check it out and let me know what you think. Feel free to leave some comments on the posts as well!

    Erik,

Let me share my personal situation.

I've been involved with cards 25 years off and on. I plain love them. I have the same sentiments of you and the dream to turn the hobby into a business.

I have had large ideas of how to successfully run an operation that touches a wide audience. I am at the absolute starting point this very moment.

I'm setting up at the flea market Saturday. Trial and error and experiementing will be playing big roles for the time being.

I'm single and run a part time morning paper route and otherwise have a lot of free time to invest.

I've broken down my "mission" into stages as next year I'm planning to tour the U.S., stay in each state a week, visit card shop(s) twice a day, attend shows, find flea markets, (everything subject to change) etc etc in doing whatever it takes to put in the proper research.

And to add I am a man of faith and am growing in belief minute by minute. I will definitely have to put together a team to accomplish what can be done overall.

MY GOAL = to brand a precise effective system that educates all, serves, and generally builds up the spprts cards industry.

Here recently the finer and broader points are being established excitedly.

Again I simply love cards. They are so much fun and there is tons more to learn.

Keep providing in depth details of your understanding and perspective in the blog as every bit of info is of help especially for this guy.

    Thanks,

    Brian

Thanks for the feedback, good to know people might be interested.

    Brian,

Good luck with your venture. Sounds like you have a good plan laid out and would probably make for interesting reading. In my opinion, educating and giving back to the hobby is important.

There is a great show in the Philadelphia area held in the spring and fall called The Philly Show (if you haven't already heard about it). You might want to try to attend that one. In addition, if you hit NJ, PM me I can point to a couple of flea markets that are big in my area and probably a local shop and/or show.

    Thanks again.

Sounds good Erik. Good to be in touch.

I wasn't aware of the Philly show until you mentioned it.

I do have lots more to uncover for sure:)

As for the education part, this is definitely an area in sportscards that can be rightly and tightly focused and made to offer worthwhile impact.

    Brian
